10/7/12 - Job Search Over The Net

A lot of people today are always checking their smart phones, whether for communication or information. For people who are looking for a job, smart phone devices such as a Samsung Galaxy or an iPhone can be even more useful and important to them. This is because there are many apps and tools that are available to help them make their job searching much easier.

Here are several ways on how we can utilize our smart phones today to make our job search smarter:

Instant Communication

Not too long ago, a job seeker would have to turn on their computer at home or go to the nearest Internet café in order to check their emails for potential employers. This is not the case now anymore. If a person is required to frequently check their email for responses and to send back replies to a recruiter, they can now do so even if they are on the move. This is thanks to the smart phones today. The Android and Apple phones have access to the Internet in which users can check on their preferred mail servers at any time.

Company Researching

You may have already researched about the company before sending them your application letter in order to customize its content including the resume to meet the needs of the employer. Yet you have done this a few days or even weeks in advance.

With a smart phone that has access to the Internet, users can easily refresh themselves of their research and ready themselves to their response with the recruiter using the latest information online. Recruiters will be impressed with applicants who have done their research beforehand and still remember them during the interview.

Researching About the Recruiter

Using mobile applications such as LinkedIn or Facebook will allow users to quickly look up information regarding the recruiters who has scheduled an interview, if they are active in social networking websites (in most cases, they are).

Finding out about the current role, the tenure and other information regarding the recruiter can improve the chances that your response will score big points with the recruiter. This can be done by including information from the profile of the recruiter such as their educational background or their official title that has not been included in their invitation email. This will show that you are tech savvy and that you are confident as well.

Scheduling Interviews

All of the smart phones today come with their own calendar apps which will allow users to mark the time and date of their interviews and also to plan proactively about it.

The recruiters are expecting the applicants they have emailed to be punctual. They also appreciate being followed-up sincerely a day or two after the interview. Using a smart phone, it is possible to schedule the date and time of the interviews that have been scheduled. Aside from that, including notes and online links related to the job can be placed here as well. You may also set up multiple alarms in order to keep you on track of your schedule for that day.
